When you have more than 8 GB of ram the chances are you don’t need paging. You don’t need pagefile.sys that could grow to 10/15GBs. Plus it should make your computer quite fast now that all the programs will run directly from RAM. Only drawback is, if you run outta RAM then you’d get an error message saying no available memory. Thats why having 8GB makes it safer. Especially if you don’t run applications that require more than 2 GB of ram. You can get an idea about how much RAM is being used by looking up the “Processes” tab in the task manager.
In any case, if you do decide to turn off Paging then here is how:
Step 1:
Control Panel>System
Then go to Advanced System Settings
Step 2:
In the Advanced tab > “Performance”> Settings
Step 3:
In the new window that opens up there would be another “Advanced”
Go there.
Step 4:
Click on the Change button and the virtual memory window shows up
Step 5:
Uncheck the “Automatically manage paging file size” at the top.
Step 6:
Then click “No Paging File” and hit the “Set” button.
Step 7:
Its gonna show you a warning message. Read that carefully and if you decide to go back
at this point then do so. Otherwise click Yes.
Restart your computer and thats it
